Seether Frontman Shaun Morgan Receives Artistic Expression Award
Seether’s Shaun Morgan was honored by the National Council for Behavioral Health
Seether frontman Shaun Morgan received the Artistic Expression award by the National Council for Behavioral Health this week during a ceremony in in Las Vegas at the organization’s Awards of Excellence ceremony. The mental health and addiction treatment organization honored Morgan for founding Seether’s Rise Above Festival, which raises funds for and awareness of mental illness and suicide prevention.
“I wanted to help those who suffer silently behind closed doors and drawn curtains,” Morgan said while receiving the award. “I wanted to raise awareness to their plight, and our Rise Above Fest seemed to be the answer.”
He added, “Thank you for this award. It represents the most important achievement of my life, to date.”

Rise Above Fest started in 2012. The festival’s name, “Rise Above This,” comes from a song that Morgan wrote about his brother, who committed suicide.
The 2016 Rise Above Fest will take place Aug. 6 in Bangor, Maine. Performers will include Seether, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Alter Bridge, Volbeat, Beartooth and We Came As Romans.
