Eddie Vedder Makes Family’s Christmas Dream Come True

Pearl Jam frontman gives to a family in need
This Christmas brought a dream come true for a mother in Maryland, who was able to give her family a wonderful Christmas, thanks to some help from Eddie Vedder. As reported by The Washington Post, Vedder gave $10,000 to the family of Tyshika Britten, who previously had posted a message on Craigslist asking for some support during a financially difficult Christmas.
In her Craigslist message, Britten explained that she and her six children were on the road to being evicted. Furthermore, she didn’t have any money for Christmas presents.
“I know it’s not about the gifts, but they are kids!” she stated. “I’m such a failure right now…please help me.”
Vedder told The Washington Post, “I was just so moved by the story and what this mother did for her children. I thought those kids must be so proud of their mother for reaching out. That takes a lot of courage.”
The Pearl Jam frontman added that his hope is that the funds he’s giving will serve as a “tourniquet” toward assisting Britten’s family to get back on their feet. Vedder also said their hardships were reminiscent of his own childhood.
“There were years there were toys from Santa, but they were used and they came from garage sales and they didn’t always work,” Vedder said.
In addition to Vedder’s monetary gift, Britten’s family received other gifts, including a Playstation 4 and, yes, a puppy following her Craigslist message.
