Sevendust Frontman Lajon Witherspoon Releases Solo Track, ‘Love Song’
Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust has a fresh solo song out
Sevendust frontman Lajon Witherspoon has a new solo song out. The track, called “Love Song,” is available for download now via all the usual digital outlets, including iTunes.
While Sevendust is known for its fiery metal, this solo track from Witherspoon is a bit more tame than Sevendust fare. “Love Song,” Witherspoon said on Instagram, “resonates with what’s going on in the world today.”
Witherspoon’s last bit of solo music came in 2010 with a track called “Ready to Go.” Does this mean he’s contemplating a full-fledged solo album? Only time will tell.
In other news, Sevendust has stated they plan to enter the studio this fall to begin recording the follow-up to their 2015 studio release, “Kill the Flaw.” That album was nominated for a Grammy for the single “Thank You.” Sevendust hopes to release the new album in spring of 2018.
“We started demoing songs and haven’t gotten together yet, but we’re hoping to get together over the next few weeks and hammer a bunch of different ideas out,” Sevendust guitarist John Connolly recently told Audio Ink Radio.
“We’re working with producer Michael ‘Elvis’ Baskette, who has worked with Slash and Alter Bridge, which we’re really excited about,” he added. “My guess is that we’ll be in the studio probably November or December and have a new record out in spring of 2018.”
