Bon Jovi, the Cars, Dire Straits Among 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its list of 2018 inductees, and the tally includes Bon Jovi, the Moody Blues, Dire Straits, the Cars and Nina Simone. In addition to those inductees, longtime rock ‘n’ roller Sister Rosetta Tharpe will be inducted in conjunction with scoring the Award for Early Influence. The 33rd annual ceremony is set for Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, the same location as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
Influential bands Judas Priest, Rage Against the Machine and Radiohead were nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but left off the final list of 2018 inductees. Other Rock Hall nominees that didn’t make the list of inductees for 2018 include Kate Bush, the Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, MC5, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, the Meters, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Link Wray and the Zombies.
Both Rage Against the Machine and Radiohead were nominated for induction in their first year of eligibility, so chances are, they’ll be nominated again in the coming the coming years. Radiohead won’t be missing much, as the band had scheduled a show in Argentina the same day of induction ceremony. Rage Against the Machine, at the very least, won’t have to field questions about whether they’ll do a full reunion at the induction ceremony in 2018.
As for Judas Priest, chances are, metal fans won’t be very happy about the band being left off the tally. Having Judas Priest inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame seems long overdue, as the longstanding metal band has been eligible for decades.
The 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is schedule for April 14, 2018, and highlights from the show will air on HBO at a later date.
