Judas Priest Unleash Pummeling New Song, ‘Lightning Strike’
Rob Halford and the metal gents of Judas Priest unleashed a teaser for their new “Lightning Strike” video yesterday (Jan. 4) , with the promise of the full song arriving today (Jan. 5). Well, the moment is here, and Judas Priest has posted the full version of “Lightning Strike” for metal fans around the world to hear. It’s a pummeling, powerful song that proves Judas Priest is at the top of its metal game. Listen to the track via Revolver Magazine below.
“Lightning Strike” will arrive on Judas Priest’s upcoming studio album, “Firepower,” which is due out in March. The British heavy metallers took some time off from the road last year to hit the studio and work on their follow-up to 2014’s “Redeemer of Souls.” Judas Priest worked on the record with longtime friend and colleague Tom Allom, British producer Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Testament) and engineer Mike Exeter (Black Sabbath).
In other news, Judas Priest will embark on the North American leg of the “Firepower” tour beginning on March 13 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and continuing through a May 1 date in San Antonio, Texas. Support on the run will come from Saxon and Black Star Riders. Judas Priest was also nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2018, but the guys didn’t make the cut. That infuriated many metal fans, so we’ll see if 2019 is their year.
