A Perfect Circle Announces New Album, ‘Eat the Elephant’
At long last, A Perfect Circle has announced full details on their much-anticipated upcoming album. The new release, titled “Eat the Elephant,” will arrive on April 20 via BMG. “Eat the Elephant” – which will feature 12 tracks, including the previously-released tracks “The Doomed” and “Disillusioned” – will mark the band’s fourth full-length album and their follow-up to 2004’s “eMOTIVe. Listen to a fresh song off the upcoming release, a brooding song called “TalkTalk,” below.
According to guitarist Billy Howerdel, the new songs are something special. “Demos are these precious ideas that you love in their initial state,” Howerdel said in an official statement. “Then you collaborate, invite other ideas, and watch them progress. That’s the dynamics and growth of a great record. I feel we’ve made a great record.”
The album’s April 20 release date has a personal meaning to Keenan, and it’s probably not what you think. “Although I’m extremely excited to finally be completing this album after a 14-year hiatus,” Maynard James Keenan said. “I’m actually more excited that its intentional release date is serving a greater purpose. The 20th of April is Carina Round’s birthday. She is a dear friend who is extremely difficult to shop for. Pressure off. Of course, I must also note that the potheads are gonna be thrilled that this album comes out on 4-20. May it serve as a glorious soundtrack to accompany all of the giggling and vexing sounds of nibbling and snacking. Fingers crossed, Cheech & Chong will be proud.”
Pre-orders for “Eat the Elephant” are available now and arrive with instant digital downloads of “TalkTalk,” “Disillusioned” and “The Doomed.” The album will also be available in several formats, including digital, CD, double gatefold 180-gram vinyl and as a box set with vinyl, CD and hi-res digital download, plus a prism and custom playing card deck.
