This year’s Record Store Day releases include a bevy of rock and metal collections

Record Store Day 2018 is this weekend, and per usual, the folks behind the annual event have put together a long list of exclusive vinyl releases that will be available that day only at your local, independently-owned record shop. This year’s Record Store Day releases include music from the likes of Linkin Park, Evanescence, Soundgarden and more. Record Store Day 2018 fall on Saturday (April 21), and it’s celebrated in independent record stores across the U.S.

Linkin Park will unleash a special album, “One More Light,” on Record Store Day, on individually numbered colored vinyl. The album, which was originally released last December, was recorded during the band’s final tour with late frontman Chester Bennington before he passed away in July of 2017.

Evanescence is also set to release their “Lost Whispers” rarities set as a vinyl LP in conjunction with Record Store Day. The album features a collection of bonus tracks and b-sides, plus a 2016 recording of the song “Even in Death,” which dates back to Evanescence’s 2000 demo album, “Origin.” The Record Store Day edition will arrive on blue translucent vinyl and be limited to 2,500 copies.

Soundgarden’s 1997 compilation “A-Sides” will be released on vinyl for the first time on Record Store Day 2018. Frontman Chris Cornell passed away in May of 2017. “A-Sides” offers 17 tracks, including mega rock hits “Spoonman,” “Black Hole Sun” and “Burden in My Hand.”

For those with heavier taste, Disturbed is getting in on Record Store Day fun. The band will release the vinyl edition of their 2011 b-sides collection, “The Lost Children,” to honor locally owned record shops.

Other rock and metal acts releasing Record Store Day sets include AC/DC, Stone Sour, Evanescence, U2, Rage Against the Machine, Mastodon, Flaming Lips, the Cure, Iggy Pop, AWOLNATION, Motorhead, MC5, Pink Floyd, Phoenix, Phish and Wilco, among others.
