Slipknot Hopes to Release a New Album Next Summer, Says Corey Taylor
Just when can Slipknot fans expect a new album? Corey Taylor says by next summer, if all goes well
Corey Taylor has been talking about new Slipknot music as of late, but now, he’s giving some concrete details on exactly when to expect the new tunes. According to Taylor, the metal group is shooting to release their next album and begin touring to promote it by summer 2019.
“Right now, the plan is for us to be in the studio early next year, like, first couple of months next year,” Taylor said in an interview with Spain’s Resurrection Fest TV. “So, a couple of months to get that going, a couple of months to get production, new masks, new outfits, new everything, and hopefully be able to come and start touring in the summer when the album comes out.”
Things are progressing fairly quickly for Slipknot, too. In fact, Taylor added that Slipknot currently has roughly 20 songs demoed for the new album, which he says sound “really, really good.”
Previously, Taylor told Kerrang! that the direction of the new material sounds “‘Iowa’ levels of heavy,” in reference to Slipknot’s popular 2001 album.
Slipknot’s next studio album will mark the band’s follow-up to 2014’s “.5: The Gray Chapter.”
