Corey Taylor says he’s currently working on the new Slipknot album, and it should arrive later next year

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has kept busy with Stone Sour as of late, both with touring and releasing the band’s latest album, “Hydrograd.” That said, Slipknot fans can rest easy that new music is on the way. Taylor is sharing some new information about the heavy metal band’s much-anticipated upcoming album, which Taylor is currently writing, and it’s good news for fans who like their music heavy.

Speaking with Kerrang!, Taylor explained that the direction of the new material sounds “‘Iowa’ levels of heavy,” in reference to Slipknot’s popular 2001 album.

“We have 16 songs written right now,” Taylor said, adding that the songs are “dangerous.” He added that the new tracks make Slipknot’s latest album, 2014’s “.5: The Gray Chapter,” “look like nobody’s business,” implying that the new tunes are extra heavy.

So, how far has Slipknot come in the writing phase of their heavy new album? According to Taylor, the group is in the “demo stages” of all the new stuff. They hope to enter the recording studio the start of 2019 and release the full collection by the end of that year. “Be prepared for 2019,” he added.

In other news, Taylor has also kept busy guesting on a new track from the Grammy-nominated rock band Code Orange. Taylor guests on a song called “The Hunt,” and the track is currently available via digital outlets.
