Here’s what Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds does to stay in tip-top shape

Head to an Imagine Dragons show, and chances are, you’ll notice that singer Dan Reynolds has quite a fit physique. That toned frame doesn’t come easy, though, and in a new interview with Men’s Health, Reynolds discusses how he worked hard to get that muscular physique.

Reynolds notes his new, healthier build and even refers to his new abs and biceps as “a statement.” He says being in the rock business requires him to step up his physical look.

“It embraces the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll,” Reynolds told Men’s Health. “I grew up loving Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, Freddie (Mercury) — showmen.”

Reynolds explained that he worked hard with trainer Brad Feinberg while on tour with Imagine Dragons last year. With Feinberg, he worked out for one to three hours, seven days a week, doing a combination of cardio exercise, weights and high-volume, upper-body drills. As for what he ate, Reynolds snacked on healthy meals, including berries, oatmeal, bananas, salads, sweet potatoes, brown rice, chicken, lamb and heaps of olive oil.

Reynolds added that the healthy diet and vigourous fitness routine hasn’t just helped his frame– it has also helped him manage his rare autoimmune disease, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and ulcerative colitis. It’s also, Reynolds said, helped his mental health.

“Pain medication ruins your vocal cords, and immunosuppressants made me get sinus infections all the time,” he explained. “I really had no other option than to completely clean up my diet and exercise every day.”

Thanks to the his fresh diet and intense exercise plan, Reynolds added, “I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.”
