Slipknot’s “Clown” says he’s “blessed to be here” working on new music with the metal band

One of the most anticipated albums of 2019 is Slipknot’s much-awaited follow-up to 2014’s “.5: The Gray Chapter,” and one guy who is especially stoked for the new set is the metal group’s percussionist, M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan. In a new interview with Kerrang!, Clown explains that he has “never” felt so “refreshed and ready” for a new album to hit fans’ ears.

“We’re all ready to go,” Crahan said in the interview. “Everybody is so excited.”

“It’s even better that (frontman) Corey Taylor is really excited,” Clown added. “He does a lot of work, goes out with Stone Sour, does solo gigs and solo things — from books to award shows. Whatever he’s doing, he does a lot. And it’s always awesome to feel his excitement.”

Moreover, Crahan says that he is currently “having the best time of my life in Slipknot.”

“I’m blessed to be here, and I still have a band and art form that I love more than anything,” he said. “They’re my friends. We’ve lost some, we’ve gained some, but we’re all still here and we’ve learned a lot. The music is on fire, the art, I feel, means something to people — and it hasn’t always felt that way for me.”

No word yet on when the new album will drop, but Slipknot released a new single, “All Out Life,” on Halloween of last year. The eerie track has a creepy video, to boot, which can be viewed here.
