It’s the news Tool fans have been wanting to hear: The band has finally confirmed a release date for their new album

It’s official: Tool’s new album has an official release date. The band’s highly-anticipated follow-up to 2006’s “10,000 Days” will at long as arrive on Aug. 30.

Tool dramatically announced the news during their concert Birmingham, Alabama, as night (May 7) by putting the release date on a video screen, which fans quickly captured and shared on their social media accounts. Maynard James Keenan and the guys of Tool further confirmed the album release date via their official Twitter account, tweeting out a video simply stating, “August 30.”

The official release date is welcomed news for fans who have been waiting for new Tool more for more than a decade. Slowly, the band has been hinting that this year would bring new music, with the latest nod coming from guitarist Adam Jones took to Instagram last week to tease fans with a short video clip of him playing a catchy new guitar riff. He posted the video with the caption, “Getting ready for Sunday,” which was a reference to the band’s appearance at the Welcome to Rockville festival.

Tool kicked off their 2019 North American tour with a headlining performance last weekend at the Welcome to Rockville festival. During that show, the band debuted the new songs “Descending” and “Invincible,” and they’ve continued to perform those songs on tour. The group will continue their tour tomorrow (May 9) with a headlining show in Louisville, Kentucky.
