In a surprise move, Detroit rapper Eminem dropped his latest studio album today (Jan. 17), a fiery set called “Music to Be Murdered By.” Stream the album via YouTube below.

Eminem released the new album, which marks his follow-up to 2018’s multi-platinum “Kamikaze,” right after midnight. The album, which marks his 11th studio album, features 20 new songs and more than an hour of rhymes, including collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Juice Wrld, Anderson.Paak, Q-Tip, Black Thought, Young M.A. and Royce da 5’9″, among others.

In addition to the new album, Eminem also released a new music video for the song “Darkness,” featuring Royce da 5’9″ and Resto. The song opens with the first lyric in Simon and Garfunkel’s famed song, “The Sound of Silence,” and is a dramatic video, staring the Detroit rapper.

“Here I am alone again/Can’t get out of this hole I’m in/It’s like the walls are closin’ in/You can’t help me, no one can,” Eminem raps in the song.

Eminem has never shied away from addressing social issues in his music, and “Darkness” is no different. The clip puts Eminem in the place of the gunman who killed 58 people at the 2017 Route 91 Harvest music festival shooting in Las Vegas.

“I don’t wanna be alone in the darkness anymore,” Eminem sings in the chorus. The video wraps up with a wall of video monitors featuring news stories about the recent mass shootings in America and the statement, “When will it end? When enough people care.”

“Music to Be Murdered By” is available now via streaming outlets.
