Dave Mustaine is gearing up to release an autobiography surrounding the writing, recording and release of Megadeth’s famed 1990 album, “Rust In Peace.”

Now, Mustaine has announced that the new book will be called “Rust In Peace: The Inside Story Of The Megadeth Masterpiece,” and will arrive via Hachette Books on Oct. 15. A description for the book reads that it’s about “scraping off the rust that builds over time on everything: ourselves, our relationships, pop culture, art, and music.”

The statement adds, “‘Rust In Peace’ is a true story of groundbreaking anti-pop that was moving toward the mainstream – or the mainstream that was moving toward the band – at a time of great cultural change, power, ego, drugs, and other vices that went hand-in-hand with rock’n’roll.”

The foreword for “Rust In Peace” will come from Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.

“Rust In Peace: The Inside Story Of The Megadeth Masterpiece” will arrive on Sept. 8.

“Rust in Peace,” the album, was the first release to gain Megadeth commercial notoriety. The album earned the thrash band their first Grammy nomination and featured the the heavy hits “Hangar 18” and “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due.” Megadeth scored their first Grammy in with 2016’s “Dystopia” for Best Metal Performance.
