Cherie Currie and Brie Darling Cover Soundgarden’s ‘Black Hole Sun’ for Charity
The Soundgarden staple “Black Hole Sun” has been given a makeover by Cherie Currie of the Runaways and Brie Darling of Fanny
Former Runaways vocalist Cherie Currie has joined forces with Brie Darling of 1970s rock band Fanny for a delicate cover of the Soundgarden staple “Black Hole Sun” alongside her musical partner Brie Darling, who was a member of the all-female 1970s group Fanny.
The cover was recorded for a good cause, to boot. “Black Hole Sun” is part of the We Are the Highway series, presenting covers of songs from the late Chris Cornell’s discography to benefit the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation charity organization.
The cover of “Black Hole Sun” is available now though digital outlets. Listen to the song via the YouTube player below.
“His artistry shown in everything he touched,” Currie stated of Cornell. “He loved people more than he loved himself. There will never be another Chris Cornell.”
In other news, Currie recently put out a new album named “Blvds of Splendor,” which boasts guest appearances from some of rock’s biggest names, including The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and The Distillers vocalist Brody Dalle.
