Metallica Give $100K Grants to Feeding America and Direct Relief

Metallica raised $200,000 to benefit Feeding America and Direct Relief during their Month of Giving charity campaign

Each May, the metal men of Metallica launch their annual Month of Giving charity campaign, benefiting one more more charities of their choice, as well as the band’s All Within My Hands foundation. The tally is in, at for May 2021, Metallica raised $200,000 through the campaign.

This year, the funds will be divided between two non-profit organizations: Feeding America and Direct Relief. Both will receive $100,000. Funds were raised by the 59 Metallica Fan Club Chapters and the All Within My Hands Board.

“We are grateful for Metallica and its fans for their continued commitment to help provide meals to our neighbors,” Feeding America VP of Corporate Partnerships Lauren Biedron said in a statement. “Their gift of $100,000 will help the Feeding America network provide at least 1 million meals to children and families, many of whom continue to face hardships in light of the pandemic.”

“We are profoundly thankful to Metallica and Metallica fans worldwide for their support, which will translate directly into helping people who need, but cannot afford, critical health services,” added Direct Relief President and CEO Thomas Tighe.

Metallica’s Month of Giving was held in conjunction with their All Within My Hands charity foundation. This marked the second year of the initiative, following its debut in 2020.

In other Metallica news, the band is on tap to headline a collection of musical festivals this summer and fall throughout the U.S., including Welcome to Rockville, Louder than Life and Aftershock. The band also recently announced a major 30th anniversary reissue package for their popular “Black Album,” featuring Metallica cover songs by a range of artists, including Weezer, Volbeat, Elton John, Corey Taylor, Ghost, Royal Blood, Miley Cyrus and more.
