Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge, ‘Marching in Time’ – Our No. 1 Album of the Year
“Marching in Time,” the new album from Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge, is Audio Ink Radio’s top album of 2021
The past two years have been strange for people across the globe, and in the music world, it’s been extra weird with the lack of live music. On a positive note, the downtime has created an opportunity for musicians to work on new music, and 2021 brought a bevy of incredible releases that were crafted during lockdown.
Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge and Creed released his latest album with his solo band, Tremonti, in 2021. The epic “Marching in Time” arrived in September via Napalm Records and stands out for its creativity and musicianship, making it Audio Ink Radio’s No. 1 album of 2021.
“Marching in Time” features 12 original tracks, ranging from amped up, guitar-heavy tunes to personal, intimate numbers. The theme of “Marching in Time” takes from current events from the past year, so it’s something that’s completely relatable.
The album’s title track, “Marching in Time,” is a tear-jerker. Tremonti wrote the track about the experience of getting ready to be a dad during a global pandemic, which is something he directly dealt with last year.
Speaking with Audio Ink Radio, Tremonti went in-depth about the title track and described the upside of being off the road for so long. “The silver lining in it all is that I’ve had more time at home than I’ve had in the last 25 years,” he said. “I’ve been here every single day, seeing every moment. Tonight, we’re leaving, and it will be my first time away from her (his daughter).”
He added regarding “Marching in Time,” “The song itself is kind of inspired by almost looking at an older child. Bringing up kids at all in the world as it was this year was just a scary thing. It talks about trying to keep that purity- keeping your kids the way you raised them and not letting the world kind of bring them down or change them in any way.”
