Corey Taylor is gearing up for a busy 2022, and his main focus is the new Slipknot album

It’s a new year, and Corey Taylor of Slipknot is determined to make the most of it. Slipknot fans have been waiting for new album from the guys since 2019’s “We Are Not Your Kind,” and it appears 2021 will deliver on those wishes.

Taylor took to Twitter to tell fans about his 2022 plans, and boy, is he going to be a busy guy. “Big S*** coming, 2022 edition,” Taylor tweeted, added “ZvN updates, SK album, secret ‘homecoming’ plans, etc. Stay Tuned!” as well as the Franklin D. Roosevelt quote, “Hold on to Your Butts.”

Speaking late last year on HardDrive Radio with Lou Brutus, Taylor indicated the new Slipknot album was coming soon. He told Brutus, “The goal right now — and I don’t wanna talk out of turn — the goal is to get it ready for mix in January so we can get it out two or three months after.”

He added, “I have four songs that I [still] have to sing ’cause I’m re-doing one that I wasn’t happy with,” he said. “I listened to it and I was like, ‘I can do that better.’ And honestly, very rarely have I ever had the opportunity to do that.”

Taylor also said he was “pretty down with everything” that the guys had recorded at the time. “[It’s] kind of rad that I’m getting a chance to go in and go, ‘You know what? I can beat what I did.’ But that’s going to take me five days to get that done. ‘Cause I’m going to do those four songs and then go back through and punch-up anything I’m just not feeling,” adding that it was good, because he’s feeling most of the material. “Once that’s done, it’s just a matter of having Joe mix it.”

By Joe, he means Joe Barresi, who is a regular collaboration with Slipknot. He mixed the band’s “WANYK” and 2014’s “.5: The Gray Chapter,” and his resume also includes working with Judas Priest, Soundgarden and other major rock and metal names.
