Eminem is the Most Gold- and Platinum-Certified Singles Artist Ever
Detroit-based rapper Eminem is officially one of the best-selling artists of all time
Eminem is No. 1. The Detroit-bred rapper performed at the Super Bowl Halftime show in February with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent, and according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), that boost has resulted in 73.5 million new Gold & Platinum Program certifications for Eminem.
Eminem, who is on the Shady/Aftermath/Interscope label, is now the No. 1 awarded musician for singles in the history of the program. He’s also one of only seven artists in any genre or era with three or more Diamond Album Awards.
Eminem has six RIAA Diamond awards, including three albums and three singles, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. Adding the 73.5 million new award units, Eminem’s RIAA Award career total is currently 227.5 million.
“These awards recognize Eminem’s unflinching commitment to his craft and the enduring connection he has forged with fans over the last twenty years,” RIAA Chairman & CEO Mitch Glazier said in a statement. “With today’s announcement, Eminem becomes the top certified singles artist in our program’s history and adds a rare third Diamond Album to his many creative accomplishments. Congratulations to Eminem and his entire label team who have set the bar higher than ever!”
“Interscope joins Aftermath in congratulating Marshall, Paul, and the entire Shady team on this remarkable achievement. It has been an honor to be part of one of the greatest journeys in the history of recorded music. The most beautiful part of this is it feels like the journey has just begun,” added Steve Berman, Vice Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M.
RIAA certifications must be applied for. All RIAA certifications are calculated by Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman. For additional information, head to the RIAA website.
