Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and his longtime girlfriend Chloe Mendel are officially getting married

It’s time to congratulate Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, as he and his longtime girlfriend Chloe Mendel are now engaged. Mendel announced the happy news of Corgan asking for her hand in marriage inside an Instagram post about her 30th birthday party, which is apparently where it all went down.

“‘Tis true, I turned 30 yesterday,” she wrote in the post. “Thank you all for the kind messages. I spent the day unplugged with my whole family (5 brothers, sister, parents, cousins, niece, nephew, kids and close friends..) which was so special. If you know me, family is and has always been the most important thing to me. And getting all 7 siblings in one house hasn’t happened in over a decade. Was a day full of emotions. We lost a pet, ate great food, Augustus lost a tooth, and we enjoyed great company. The day finished with a wedding proposal. Of course I said yes.”

She also shared a video of her and Corgan with their two children while she got ready to blow out the candles on her birthday cake.

Corgan and Mendel met when Mendel was managing Corgan’s Madame Zuzu’s tea shop in Highland Park, Illinois. They had their first child, son Augustus, in 2015, and daughter, Philomena, in 2018. The two have already worked together a good deal on various events and projects. This past summer, they hosted a benefit concert and livestream after a mass shooting happened in their Highland Park neighborhood during the Fourth of July parade.
