Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac has passed away, the band has announced

Christine McVie, best known as the co-vocalist and keyboardist of Fleetwood Mac, has passed away at 79. The news comes via a post on McVie’s official Instagram account.

“On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death,” the post states. “She passed away peacefully at [the] hospital this morning, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family. We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time, and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being and revered musician who was loved universally. RIP Christine McVie.”

Fleetwood Mac also confirmed the news, sharing a statement to honor McVie. “There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie,” the band stated. “She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed.”

McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and was a key part of the band throughout its career. She has also released three solo albums. McVie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 as a member of Fleetwood Mac. She also received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. In 1999, after about 30 years with the band, McVie decided to semi-retire and leave the band. She was still an integral part of Fleetwood Mac, though, and in September 2013, she performed on stage with Fleetwood Mac at the O2 Arena in London. The staff at Audio Ink Radio sends condolences to McVie’s family and friends.
