Metallica ’72 Seasons’ to Debut in Cinemas Around the World
Metallica’s new album, “72 Seasons,” will get a global premiere in movie theatres around the world on April 13
Metallica and Trafalgar Releasing are joining forces to throw a worldwide listening party for Metallica’s upcoming, 12th studio album, “72 Seasons.” On Thursday, April 13, for one night only, “72 Seasons” will be played in full in cinemas across the world.
Each one of the new songs off the album will features its own music video and exclusive commentary from the band, according to a release. “The result will offer fans an unforgettable night as they experience ’72 Seasons’ first and fully on the eve of its April 14 release date,” the release adds. In honor, Metallica has released a “72 Seasons – Global Premiere” announcement video, which can be viewed below.
Tickets for “72 Seasons – Global Premiere” will be available starting Thursday, March 2, at Metallica.film.
“This is a monumental opportunity for Metallica fans to be the first to hear the new album. We are thrilled to be a part of this historical global moment—connecting Metallica with their fans once again,” Kymberli Frueh, SVP Programming and Content Acquisitions, Trafalgar Releasing, said in a statement.
“72 Seasons” will arrive April 14 via Metallica’s own Blackened Recordings. The album, produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, clocks in at more than 77 minutes, offering 12 pummeling thrash metal tracks. The set marks Metallica’s follow-up to 2016’s “Hardwired…to Self-Destruct.”

In support of “72 Seasons,” Metallica will embark on a worldwide tour later this year. Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, Metallica’s M72 world trek will have the band performing two nights in every city it reaches, with each show featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The different opening acts include Pantera, Mammoth WVH, Greta Van Fleet, Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat and Ice Nine Kills.
