Listen to a new solo song from Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, “In My Head”

It’s a big year for Linkin Park, as the legendary nu-metal band is coming up on the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking “Meteora” record and have a 20th anniversary edition of the album coming out in April.

Before then, Shinoda has lots of stuff in the works, the latest being a new solo single, “In My Head,” featuring Arizona alt-pop singer Kailee Morgue. The song also appears in the sixth installment of the Scream franchise, Scream VI, from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group. Shinoda also co-wrote and produced the Demi Lovato song “Still Alive,” which also appears in the movie. “Scream VI” is out in theaters across America Friday (March 10).

“I love that this moment is both a look backward and a look forward, releasing an Anniversary retrospective of Meteora and brand-new music at the same time,” Shinoda said in a press statement. “My whole career, I’ve jumped from Linkin Park to solo stuff to working with others, and it feels great to dive back into that rhythm. Plus, having both ‘In My Head’ and Demi Lovato’s ‘Still Alive’ in the new Scream VI film is a huge thrill.”

Linkin Park will release their “Meteora” 20th anniversary set on April 7. The collection features the new single “Lost,” which is currently No. 1 on alternative and rock radio. “Lost” marks Linkin Park’s first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in six years. The song is such a chilling reminder of what the music world lost, pun intended, when Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington tragically took his own life in 2017. “Lost” is truly a snapshot of a musical moment in time, during that early-2000s nu-metal phase of music.
