Aerosmith Announce Retirement
Aerosmith retirement: The legendary rock ‘n’ roll band will perform their final concerts in 2023
The rumors have been out there for a while, and now, it’s official: Aerosmith are calling it quits. The band has announced a 2023-2024 North American farewell tour, offering support from The Black Crowes.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers will begin their 40-date farewell run, called “Peace Out,” on Sept. 2 in Philadelphia. They’ll stay on the road through a Jan. 26 stop in in Montreal, Canada.
Tickets for the farewell tour go on sale Friday (May 5) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
Even though they are retiring, the guys of Aerosmith aren’t really going away. In a press release, the band stated, “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
Aerosmith also stated that original drummer Joey Kramer will not perform with the band for these final dates. Their message regarding Kramer is much friendlier than the current Motley Crue, Mick Mars feud. In a statement, Aerosmith said, “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
Kramer’s drum tech, John Douglas, has been filling in for on the group’s latest shows. He’s expected to continue to do so on the farewell run.
