Creed Gearing Up for a Big Announcement
Is a Creed reunion imminent? We revisit some earlier interviews that support Creed reunion rumors
Creed are getting ready to announce something big, and we aren’t surprised. After all, in all of Audio Ink Radio’s previous interviews with Creed band members, when asked about a Creed reunion, members have expressed their interest in getting the band back together. So, is a Creed reunion imminent?
Creed have been posting teasers on social media about something brewing with the band. One message points to a Wednesday (July 19) announcement. That message also states, “Let’s go back to the summer of ’99.” Regarding that date, 1999 is the year Creed released their seminal sophomore album, “Human Clay.” The record featured the hit singles “Higher,” “With Arms Wide Open” and “What If.” While the band’s debut, “My Own Prison,” made them rock stars, “Human Clay” is the album that took them into the mainstream, in essence making them pop stars.
Speaking with Audio Ink Radio earlier this year, Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti sounded positive that a Creed reunion would happen. But, he wasn’t sure when. “I’m sure something will happen at some point,” he said. “Creed was such a popular band back in the day, it would be a shame to not do something with it. I know there’s still tons of fans out there that would appreciate it, so it’s just a matter of timing.”
Back in June of 2020, Creed updated their social media profile pictures with a new logo and nostalgic photo. That conjured up reunion rumors, too. At the time, Audio Ink Radio asked Creed drummer Scott Phillips if the social media changes meant anything. He said no, but added that “there’s always talk every now and then of the possibility of us getting back together and doing some stuff. We’re all in a good spot right now where we feel like we have a good relationship amongst the four of us. Obviously, Mark and Brian and I are in the same band together. But, Scott seems to be doing really, really well.”
Phillips added, “There’s some dialogue. We tend to check up on each other when it’s birthdays and holidays, things like that. So, there has been some chatter, and there’s no specific timetable for anything or no specific plans, but it’s a possibility down the road. We’ll just kind of let it play out naturally and see what happens.”
