Puddle of Mudd Prepping New Album, ‘Ubiquitous’
Puddle of Mudd, new album “Ubiquitous”: The post-grunge rockers are back with a new album and single
Puddle of Mudd have announced a new album, “Ubiquitous,” due out on Sept. 8. Ahead of the album’s release, the group has released the debut single, “My Baby.”
“Ubiquitous” marks the first new released from frontman Wes Scantlin and Puddle of Mudd since their 2019 record, “Welcome to Galvania,” which had marked the band’s first album in 10 years. In a short statement, Scantlin said of the new record, “Fans can expect another really catchy, hooky record from Puddle of Mudd!”
Scantlin wasn’t fronting, either. The single “My Baby” is catchy and hooky. Scantlin has always made it known of his admiration for Nirvana, and this song certainly has a Nirvana flavor.
Puddle of Mudd will take the new tunes on the road this year, as the band has a handful of U.S. shows scheduled throughout the next few months. Find information on Puddle of Mudd’s upcoming jaunt via their Facebook page.
Scantlin spoke with Audio Ink Radio in 2021 about the status of new music from Puddle of Mudd. “Fortunately or unfortunately, it’s a little bit of an antithetical statement, I’ve been able to pretty much write and record write and record every single day for over year,” he said, referring to the pandemic and lockdown. “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: It was a nice break, but unfortunately, it wasn’t a nice break. As a songwriter, I was very stoked to be able to just write songs and be a songwriter. It’s what I do. I write songs.”
