Metallica’s ‘M72 World Tour’ Already Drawing Rave Reviews from Fans
Metallica’s ‘M72 World Tour’: Here’s what fans are saying about the trek
Metal giants Metallica kicked off the North American leg of their “M72 World Tour” on Friday (Aug. 4), and the show is already getting rave reviews from fans. The tour, which is in support of the band’s recently released “72 Seasons” album, launched at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Here’s what people are saying about the Metallica, “M72 World Tour.”
The first show on the tour included opening sets Pantera and Mammoth WVH. Also, the second night of the tour has Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills on the bill. The tour sees Metallica performing two nights in arenas around the world, with totally different sets and opening acts for both nights.
According to Setlist.fm, Metallica débuted the second song from 72 Seasons, “Shadows Follow,” live at the show, marking the first time Metallica have ever performed it for a crowd. Of course, the set list also included plenty of classic Metallica cuts, such as “Creeping Death,” “Harvester of Sorrow,” “King Nothing,” “Sad But True,” “Seek & Destroy” and “Master of Puppets.”
One crazy moment happened when the band started to play “Nothing Else Matters” and Kirk Hammett messed up the intro. Moreover, that forced the band to restart it (via Setlist.fm). Later, he said, “Okay, it’s the first show [laughs]. I’m gonna do this intro all over for your guys again. It’s just not good enough for myself, and if it’s not good enough for myself, it’s not good enough for you!”
As for the fan reaction, plenty of fans took to Twitter to tweet out their live experiences. One fan, @misfitz21, tweeted “I was there!! Incredible show!!! Loved every second of it! You guys killed it! I’ll be there again for night 2, really hoping for a room of mirrors!!! That would be epic!” Another fan, @NYCUnionLecky,” tweeted, “Awesome show guys, had as awesome night, can’t wait till tomorrow nights show (sic).” Another user, @TornadoOfS0uls, said, “AMAZING SHOW LAST NIGHT!!”
