Ozzy Osbourne: Update on heath, a new album, touring and more

Meal icon Ozzy Osbourne has managed to keep in good spirits. That even though the past few years have been plagued with heath issues for the metal musician. In fact, due to those health problems, he’s had to remain off the road for the past five years. But, now Ozzy Osbourne has given an update on live shows and touring, and the news is good.

The news comes via a new interview with Metal Hammer. During the chat, he talked about a new surgery that he needed to get to repair damage in his spine. He also talked about his canceled Power Trip Festival performance. But, then Ozzy talked about the future.

“I’ve had all the surgery now, thank God,” he said in the chat. “I’m feeling okay – it was just dragging on. I thought I’d be back on my feet months ago, I just couldn’t get used to this mode of living, constantly having something wrong. I can’t walk properly yet, but I’m not in any pain any more, and the surgery on my spine went great.”

I can’t walk properly yet, but I’m not in any pain any more and the surgery on my spine went great.”

He also said that when he’s feeling better, he plans to go into the studio again in 2024 for “one more album.” Specifically, he exclaimed, “I’ve done two albums fairly recently, but I want to do one more album and then go back on the road. I’m just starting to work on it now, and we’ll be recording in the early part of next year. I want to take my time with this one.”

It’s crazy to think that Ozzy is seriously considering a return to the road. After all, he’s been forced to pull out of a bevy of festival appearances. He’s also had to call off tours because of his health. So, perhaps Ozzy feels very optimistic about the future. Or, maybe the metal icon honestly feels healthy enough to get back out there again. Either way, it’s good news for metal fans. “My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country,” Ozzy said in the interview. As for Power Trip, in the interview, Ozzy said that the event was scheduled too soon after his latest surgery. “If I can’t do the gig, I don’t really want to be there,” he said. “Plus I know they’ll just be like, ‘Go on, get Ozzy up!'” Power Trip is set for Oct. 6 through 8 in Indio, California, with headlining performances from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Tool and Judas Priest, as well as many secondary acts.
