Wolfgang Van Halen and Andraia Allsop Honor Eddie Van Halen at Their Wedding
Wolfgang Van Halen and Andraia Allsop are officially husband and wife
It’s official: Mammoth WVH frontman Wolfgang Van Halen is off the market. The musician married his longtime girlfriend Andraia Allsop in an small ceremony at their Los Angeles residence over the weekend. The wedding even included a touching musical aspect that gives a nod to Wolfgang’s late father, Eddie Van Halen. Here’s the story behind the Wolfgang Van Halen and Andraia Allsop wedding.
“Our goal was just to bring all of our closest family and friends together,” Andraia told People magazine. “The past few years, not only with the world, but also with personal tragedies, haven’t been the easiest, but we wanted to create this wedding as a celebration not only just for us to get married, but a celebration for the people we love.”
As People reports, Wolfgang and Andraia were married in Los Angeles on Sunday (Oct. 15). They had 90 guests at their Los Angeles home for the ceremony. The wedding date was extra special, too, as it landed on the eight year anniversary of their first date. So, just how intimate and personal was the wedding? The two actually wed in the couple’s living room, and the reception took place in the backyard.
As for attire, Wolfgang donned a custom three-piece black suit for the special occasion. He also walked down the aisle to “316,” which appears on Van Halen’s “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” album. “It’ll be a nice way to include my dad,” Wolfgang said of the song choice, via People. Then, Andraia walked down the aisle with her father, with Dean Martin’s “Everybody Loves Somebody” playing. Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” was the couple’s choice for their wedding song. No word on if any music from Mammoth WVH, Wolfgang’s band, was played at the wedding.
Moreover, Wolfgang’s mother, actress Valerie Bertinelli, told People, “It brings me such a nice sense of peace knowing Wolfie and Andraia have each other for the rest of their lives. They really ‘get’ one another. Their humor is very similar, they like similar things, they know how to give each other space and they’re just so comfortable together.”
Wolfgang and Andraia even went the extra mile to try to make those loved ones not with them anymore part of the ceremony. “One of the things that I really wanted was a way to bring Wolf’s dad into it,” Andraia said. “We’ll be having an empty chair that would’ve been his at the ceremony.”
“We cleared out all the bookshelves and we’ve just lined the shelves with photos of our family, our loved ones, people who’ve passed, people who couldn’t make it,” she added. You have to admit that’s a very touching move.
Then, Wolfgang exclaimed, “We’ve lost important family members on both sides, so it’s important to include them and have them be a part of the ceremony that we wish they were here for.” It sounds like they did a good job of including them.
Bertinelli concluded, “Ed would’ve been absolutely beaming and so, so proud of the man Wolfie has become and is becoming and so happy that he has found Andraia, someone who really understands Wolfie, who he is and who he wants to be and supports him wholeheartedly.”
