It’s always a huge deal when the Dave Matthews Band announces their annual summer tour dates. Matthews and company are constantly ranked among the highest-grossing tours of the year, season after season. Now, the Dave Matthews Band has announced 2024 summer tour dates. The trek will keep them on the road for 33 shows.

The tour begins on May 22 in Tampa, Florida, and runs through three-night stand on Labor Day Weekend at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. An online ticket pre-sale for members of DMB Warehouse Fan Association is happening now. Then, a public ticket on-sale will start on Friday, Feb. 16, at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

In conjunction with the tour, the Dave Matthews Band is teaming with Live Nation’s operated venues to “minimize the concerts’ footprints even further, with the goal to divert at least 90% of fan-generated waste from landfills.”

The band has actually been a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador since 2019.

“Leveraging its existing leading sustainability resources, Live Nation will support the concerts’ goal by providing zero waste green teams, zero waste stations, food donations, waste sorting, composting and the use of minimal single-use plastic. Fans are encouraged to check venue websites for details closer to the tour dates,” the band says in a statement. They add, “This year’s continued partnership with The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign will bring the total to five million trees planted since DMB teamed up with TNC in 2020 to support reforestation.” For more information, head to www.dmbtrees.org.

Dave Matthews Band has sold a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined. They’ve also sold more than 25 million tickets, making them the second largest ticket-seller in history. That’s wild. The band’s latest album, “Walk Around The Moon,” arrived last year. So, expect to hear some new songs off the record on tour, as well as the classics, such as “Crash Into Me” and “The Space Between.”

In a recent interview with Variety, the reporter asked him what song he believes really defines his legacy. His answer might surprise you. He didn’t pick a big hit.

“What I want to bring to people is joy,” he said. “Now, I think a song like ‘Rapunzel’…that’s a great example of of us, I think. I had a friend once ask me what do I think the best songs I ever wrote were, because I was feeling a little glum, and I said, ‘Don’t Drink the Water.’ And he said, ‘Well, every time you doubt yourself, just remember that song.’ Another song that resonates like that for me is ‘Gravedigger.’ It’s the idea that everybody has a a remarkable life story.”
