Bad Omens Channel Their Industrial Metal Side on ‘THE DRAIN’
Bad Omens have released a new song, called “THE DRAIN, ” which sees the guys channeling their industrial metal side. The song, which features industrial trio HEALTH and electronic act SWARM, will arrive on Bad Omens’ just-announced new release, “CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST].”
Bad Omens, ‘The Drain’ – Commentary
‘THE DRAIN’ opens with a heavy industrial metal beat, which makes way for Bad Omens vocalist Noah Sebastian and HEALTH’s Jacob Duzik’s soft, eerie vocals, which fit perfectly well together. The vocals have a whispering quality in the verses, but the chorus pops with power and force. While “THE DRAIN” has a stronger industrial metal leaning than most of Bad Omens’ music, it certainly fits with their current sound, especially when you compare it to a song like “What do you want from me?” off the band’s LP, “The Death of Peace of Mind.” “THE DRAIN” actually samples the song “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND,” which is currently inside the Top 10 at alternative radio.
On top of “THE DRAIN,” Bad Omens have released another bit of new music with their song “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND [SO WYLIE PATCH],” re-launched with a new mix by producer, composer, and sound designer So Wylie.
Bad Omens, New Album: ‘CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST]’
In addition to the new song, Bad Omens have released the full details of their upcoming “CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST]” release, which will hit stores on May 31. The release is “an experimental extension of Bad Omens’ hit LP The Death of Peace of Mind,” according to a release, and will include 26 tracks, including the band’s recent collaboration with Poppy, “V.A.N.”
“CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST]” will also feature some guest appearances from Bob Vylan, Wargasm and ERRA, so it’s quite the mix of talent.
In other news, Bad Omens will hit the road on a short U.S. tour starting April 21 in San Antonio, Texas. While on tour, they’ll perform at a handful of festivals, including Sick New World and Welcome to Rockville. In June and early July, the guys will head to the U.K. and Europe for some shows and festival dates and then return to the States in late July.
