Linkin Park New Singer Rumors: Band Considering Tour with Female Vocalist
Could a Linkin Park new singer be on the horizon? The legendary nu-metal band is reportedly considering reuniting with a female vocalist in 2025 for a massive reunion tour. The vocals, of course, could take the place of late frontman Chester Bennington.
Linkin Park New Singer Update
According to the experts at Billboard, Linkin Park is looking at offers for a possible tour and festival headlining dates for 2025. If they do this, they’re looking to have a female vocalist front the band. I’m guessing they think it would be less disrespectful to have a female in the band verses a male taking the place of Bennington, but they could also simply think that Bennington’s tenor vocals would fit a female vocalist.
“Booking agency WME is taking offers for a potential Linkin Park tour along with headlining festival dates featuring Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell, the sources say,” reads the Billboard article. “The band has not indicated who will sing on behalf of Bennington, who was often praised as one of the most gifted and durable vocalists of the 2000s with a dynamic range tailor-made for the group’s genre-bending style.” So, will the Linkin Park new singer rumors come to fruition? Time will tell. Either way, we’ll keep you posted on the Linkin Park new singer possibility.
What’s more, on March 30, Orgy’s Jay Gordon appeared on “Wired in the Empire” on KCAL 96.7 and said he hadĀ heard rumors about a Linkin Park reunion and a possible “girl singer.” He said, “Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band. They’ve been around a long time and they’re still going for it. It’s going to be tough without Chester, but we’ll see. I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.” However, after the interview went viral, Gordon issued a statement insisting his comments had been taken out of context, writing, “With regards to this Linkin Park singer thing. I know nothing about any of that.”
When the idea of a female vocalist popped up, a lot of people thought of Amy Lee of Evanescence. But, she says there have been no such talks. In an interview with iHeartRadio Canada on April 23, she said that the band had not contacted her about the job. “But that’s awesome,” she said in the interview. “They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part-time.”
Bennington passed away in July 2017. Following his tragic death, Linkin Park went on a permanent hiatus. Rapper and multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda has toured and released solo music since 2017, but the band as a unit has only performed together once, at a tribute concert in honor of Bennington that took placeĀ in October 2017.
Even with Bennington sadly gone, Linkin Park have managed to release new music featuring his voice. Earlier this year, the band unveiled a new greatest hits album called “Papercuts,” which featured a bunch of their No. 1 hits, as well as a previously unheard song called “Friendly Fire” with vocals from Bennington. “Friendly Fire” was a hit and reached No. 1 on the U.S. Rock and Alternative Airplay chart. Last year, Linkin Park released a new song in “Lost,” which was originally recorded during sessions for their second studio album, 2003’s “Meteora.” The song was released as the lead single from the album’s 20th-anniversary reissue, which also arrived last year. No word yet on what other special releases Linkin Park have in the works.
