Slipknot fans are waiting and wishing for new Slipknot music. So, when is it coming? M. Shawn Crahan, better known as “Clown” from the band, is giving fans a much-needed update about when to expect new tunes from the band.

When Is New Slipknot Music Coming?

First of all, it’s worth noting that it’s great news that new Slipknnot music is even on the way. There was a time when the band was taking so much time off from the studio, it seemed like the guys would never regroup for a new album or even single. Also, I have to mention that Eloy Casagrande, former drummer for Sepultura, was announced to be Slipknot’s new drummer back in April, so the upcoming music will likely have him on there.

In a new interview with the experts at Revolver magazine, Slipknot’s Clown was asked when the band might release some new music. His response was a good one.

“Well, one thing I can say is this: There’s always going to be new Slipknot music. But we’ve also said that there is a filter, and we are the filter, and that filter must go through everyone,” he said. “And when I was telling you that we’re doing a lot better communicating, now apply that to communicating about music.”

This next part is what’s really promising. Clown even gives a little bit of a timeline when it comes to new Slipknot music.

“I can say that there’s gonna be music sooner than you can imagine, delivered to you in a way you can’t imagine,” he said. “And I’m excited because we’re not on a label. And there’s a lot of dismay with that, you know what I mean? But there’s also a lot of middle fingers with that. I love it, you know? Come and get us, or we’ll come to get you.”

Slipknot have parted ways with their longtime label, Roadrunner Records. So, Revolver magazine also asked Clown if Slipknot will be releasing music independently or looking for a new label home.

“What I can tell you is that we’ve already been motivating around creating music, because of the love of doing it. So you’re gonna get music really soon,” Clown said. “And if I can have a loud voice in it, I will make sure that we have at least a good amount of music put out before we do anything with anybody…”

He also emphasized that if Slipknot doesn’t do a label, they’ll have to do everything themselves, “which might mean hiring some people to help pick up the loose ends, which makes it a business — and I’m not sure we’re interested in opening up another business. But I am interested in understanding what it means to go directly from our brains to your brain with nobody in the way; I’m interested in that potential.”

So, if you read between the lines, I believe it appears Slipknot is interested in hooking up some kind of record deal so they don’t have to do all the little things that go with independently releasing new music. Either way, new Slipknot music is coming, and that’s worth celebrating.
