Heart Postpone Tour Dates, Ann Wilson Shares Health Update
It’s always sad when a band has to postpone or cancel a tour, but sometimes it’s absolutely necessary. Well, it’s totally necessary in the case of Heart. The longstanding rock band has postponed all of their upcoming tour dates due to the health of band member Ann Wilson. She’s also shared an update for fans.
Heart Postpone All Upcoming Tour Dates, Ann Wilson Shares Health Update
Heart have postponed all of the the remaining dates on their 2024 North American tour, due to Ann Wilson’s health issues. This isn’t a total surprise, as the group canceled European tour dates in May for what they said was a “time-sensitive but routine medical procedure” for Wilson.
In a new statement to fans, Wilson and Heart discussed her recent health issues. “Dear friends,” she said in the statement. “I underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful and I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do it. And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.”
She added that, “To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted and we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support. This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing.”
Ann Wilson signed the statement. She also included a postscript, writing, “Respectfully, this is the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter.” Also, when it comes to tickets, “fans are encouraged to hold onto their tickets, as they will be honored for the rescheduled dates. More information to be announced in the coming weeks.”
The tour was dubbed Heart’s Royal Flush Tour. They kicked off the trek in April with Cheap Trick, and it marked the band’s first extended run since 2019. The tour was supposed to run through late September. But, when they postponed the European tour dates, that put an end to shows in June and July. In addition, Heart was set to appear with Def Leppard and Journey on some stadium dates in July and August. We here at Audio Ink Radio wish Ann Heart all the best wishes for a speedy recovery.
