P.O.D. Release DIY Video Featuring Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix [WATCH]
P.O.D. post live video for, ‘On Fire’
With technology dictating so much of music these days, isn’t it refreshing when an established band does something completely D.I.Y.? San Diego rap-rock band P.O.D. recently did just that, putting together a gritty new video to accompany their track, “On Fire,” which they’re recording for an upcoming album.
P.O.D drummer Wuv Bernardo filmed and directed the video, and he shot most of the footage during the band’s run on the Rock Allegiance Tour last summer. The video opens with a black-and-white, x-ray still frame before launching into clips of Marcos Curiel playing the song’s snaking, opening riff. Finally, singer Sonny Sandoval enters the shot, prepping for the stage, and then starts off rapping in a deserted parking lot. The video moves between black and white and color takes, and Bernardo intertwines live footage with shots of individual band members rocking along.
Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix even makes an appearance in the video, chanting along to the song’s chorus, “Stop, drop, roll, I’m on fire! Come into my house and I’ll set you on fire!” Papa Roach co-headlined the Rock Allegiance Tour, so it’s no big surprise that he and the guys of Payable on Death hung out and that Shaddix decided to make a cameo in the video.
More than anything, this truly D.I.Y. video for, “On Fire,” shows the raw talent of P.O.D. The guys sound at peace with their past and comfortable with their present, and that self-confidence — coupled with this simple yet blistering video — makes the “On Fire” package one of P.O.D.’s best offerings to date. Right now, the band are in the studio recording their new album for Razor & Tie with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, 3 Doors Down).
