Stone Temple Pilots frontman gets jolly for the holidays

Scott Weiland stopped by the set of TV network CNN to spread some Christmas cheer and promote his new album of traditional Christmas songs, Most Wonderful Time of the Year. During the chat, he talked about his love for the holidays as a child, his kids’ Christmas ornaments and explained what he wants for Christmas this year. Watch the yuletide video, below.

“Hello, my name is Scott Weiland,” he starts in the clip. “So, here we are. It’s the holidays. There are some people that choose to avoid Christmas, but I was never one of those. I looked forward to it from probably from the first day of school every year until Christmas day …”

Weiland then switched the conversation to his little ones. “A lot magical things happen Christmas, but this is one of the newer ones,” he says, pointing to an ornament hanging on the Christmas tree. “The cool ones are the ones my kids make for me. My son is about to turn 11, and my daughter is 9.” He added that holiday shopping isn’t what is was back when Weiland was a little tyke: “Toys are a lot more advanced and expensive. I remember my big thing was Big Wheel and Lincoln Logs…”

If the Stone Temple Pilots frontman could ask Santa for one Christmas gift this year, what would it be? “I’ve been given so much,” he replies. “I’ve been given so many gifts. I hope that people are able to find some form of peace and some form of love and understanding . If I could ask Santa for something, that’s what it would be.” Such a touching wish from the grunge gent!
