Alternative band Red Hot Chili Peppers add more stops to upcoming trek

For those who were worried that the Red Hot Chili Peppers had eschewed their city on the band’s highly-anticipated, “I’m With You World Tour,” there’s hope. The socktastic alternative band have announced another leg of their jaunt, and new tour stops include the cities of Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and more. Find a complete list of tour dates, below. More dates will drop in the coming weeks. Tickets will go on sale Jan. 27 or 28 for the new dates, depending on the city, with ticket information available via Ticketmaster.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are touring to back their current album, “I’m With You,” which is up for “Rock Album of the Year” at this year’s Grammy Awawrds. The band will also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this April.

In other Peppers news, the “Scar Tissue” rockers recently announced that they had to postpone the beginning of their upcoming North American tour, due to multiple foot injuries incurred by lead vocalist Anthony Kiedis. Kiedis recently endured surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and fix a detached flexor tendon in his foot, so he needs some time to recuperate. The funk-rock singer is expected to make a full recovery.

Kiedis, Flea and the guys have also just released a new mobile app to keep fans up-to-date with all things Peppers. The app, named “Red Hot Chili Peppers Official,” offers band news, photos, videos, tour updates, merchandise and more. The free app, which is available via iTunes and the Android market, also features the group’s latest Tweets. (Courtesy photo: Ellen Von Unwerth.)
