Red Hot Chili Peppers Postpone Dates Due to Anthony Kiedis’ Injuries
Red Hot Chili Peppers reschedule first leg of U.S. tour
California funk-rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that they must postpone the beginning of their upcoming North American tour, due to multiple foot injuries incurred by lead vocalist Anthony Kiedis. Kiedis recently endured surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and fix a detached flexor tendon in his foot, so he needs some time to recuperate. The “Scar Tissue” singer is expected to make a full recovery.
Tickets for the deferred dates will be honored at the new dates. Check out the rescheduled tour lineup, below. The alternative band is touring in support of their 2011, Grammy-nominated full-length, “I’m With You.” Kiedis explained to the Mirror that the album came together quickly and naturally: “We recorded about 50 songs in total. Not all were completely finished and along the way we had to choose our collective favorites to record and finish. The more we wrote the more we wanted to write and it snowballed. It was all such an exciting process.”
Recently, the guys brought their intoxicating blend of funk and punk rock to the home of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich for his elaboration New Year’s Eve party. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are also going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14 in Cleveland, at Cleveland’s Public Hall. (Photo credit: Ellen Von Unwerth.)
