The Black Keys, Radiohead, Snoop Dogg and More to Play Coachella 2012
California festival goes from one weekend of entertainment to two
Coachella is back for 2012, times two. The annual California music and arts festival is set to run over two weekends for the first time in the event’s history: April 13-15 and again April 20-22. According to the festival’s official website, the increase is to make room for larger audiences.
Per usual, the names are big. Radiohead, the Black Keys, Pulp, and the recently reunited At the Drive-In will rock the stages at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. As for high profile hip-hop acts, the festival will host the likes of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Other key players include Awolnation, Arctic Monkeys, the Shins, Cat Power, Bon Iver, Jeff Mangum, Girl Talk, Manchester Orchestra, Sleeper Agent, Mazzy Star, Madness, Florence and the Machine, Justice, the Horrors and more. The lineup stays in like with Coachella’s mission of featuring a plethora of acts, including rock, indie, hip-hop and electronic music. Tickets go on sale starting Jan. 13. Find more information on the festival’s official website.
While the eclectic bill likely has something for every taste, many ears will be on At the Drive-In. The Texan millennial post-hardcore group have been silent for over a decade, leaving fans with only their 2000 release, “Relationship of Command,” to remember them. Until now, that is. At the Drive In broke the news of their reunion via Twitter on Monday (Jan. 9): “Attention! To whom it may concern: At The Drive-In will be breaking their 11 year silence. THIS STATION IS …NOW…OPERATIONAL,” stated the Tweet. Who are you most stoked to see on Coachella’s 2012 lineup?
