Slipknot, the Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying + More Set for Mayhem
Mayhem Festival packs heavy-hitters As I Lay Dying, the Devil Wears Prada and more
It’s baaack! The Rockstar Mayhem Festival has announced its 2012 lineup, and it’s a doozy. Power players include Corey Taylor-fronted Slipknot, Christian metal-core band the Devil Wears Prada, metal giant Slayer, thrashers Anthrax, Christian metal band As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria and Whitechapel. Got that?
Slipknot and Slayer are slated for the mainstage, while the others will rock the side stage. One more headliner will drop in the coming weeks. Overall, it’s the kind of bill that should score two thumbs-up from the festival’s devoted metal fans.
This is Slipknot’s first U.S. tour since the tragic passing of their bass player Paul Gray in 2005. Taylor stated of the trek, “You knew we’d be back. Now, you know we’re coming. This will be a tour people will scarcely want to miss. It will definitely be a show to remember. Can’t wait to see the states again from behind a mask.”
Slipknot’s Clown added to Taylor’s sentiments: “Slipknot is headlining this summer’s Mayhem festival and it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve ever felt, sensed, or seen. You miss this, you miss everything. Everyone seems to think that there’s a chance we’re gonna go away. This is the farthest thing from the truth. Stay sic and don’t ever judge us.”
The tour starts June 30 in San Bernardino, Calif., and continues for well over a month before wrapping August 5 in Hartford, Conn. That said, there’s a chance more tour dates will be release. To keep up-to-date with the latest on Mayhem, visit the festival’s official website.
