Foo Fighters take over David Letterman’s Top 10 list

Dave Grohl and his uber-popular grunge rock band Foo Fighters scored five trophies at the Grammy Awards Sunday (Feb. 12), and prior to hitting up the ceremony, the guys took some time to stop by late night TV. Long known for his funnyman talents, Grohl checked in to David Letterman’s late night TV show and offered up “10 Interesting Facts about the Grammy Awards” along with the rest of the Foos. The Foos’ 10 facts are divided up between Grohl, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Pat Smear and they range from the ridiculous (“The ‘Z’ in Jay-Z stands for Zuckerman”) to the obvious (“Even we don’t know the different between ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’”). Some of the funnier ones include “the soda machine backstage has root beer;” “after the ceremony, everybody meets at Applebee’s to celebrate over potato twisters and dessert shooters;” and “Lil’ Wayne will be performing with his older brother, medium-sized Wayne.”

Foo Fighters’ 2012 Grammy Awards include Best Rock Album, Best Long Form Video, Best Rock Song and Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance, the latter which they won over heavy contestants such as Megadeth. In addition to their first four Grammys, during the televised portion of the ceremony, Foo Fighters scored the coveted Grammy for Best Rock Performance for their powerhouse rock single “Walk.” While accepting the latter award, Grohl made a from-the-heart statement about the state of music: “To me this award means a lot because it shows that the human element of making music is what’s most important: singing into a microphone and learning to play an instrument and learning to do your craft.” Read more of what Grohl had to say, here.
