President Barack Obama says Foos were ‘so tired of winning so many awards’ they decided to play his fundraiser

President Obama is a big fan of grunge rock band Foo Fighters, so much so that he follows their many Grammy wins and musical escapades. At least, that’s what one can gather from Tuesday night’s (Feb. 14) fundraiser in Los Angeles, where Dave Grohl and the Foos played for the president and all the fundraiser’s attendees.

“Love the Foo Fighters!” Obama said, reported ABC News, following a huge applause when he took the stage. “They were so tired of winning so many awards so they said, ‘Let’s do something else tonight,’” the president added, referring to the band’s massive five Grammy wins this past weekend.

Grohl and company performed six hits at the event, including “Skin and Bones,” “Times Like These,” “My Hero,” “Walk,” “Learn to Fly” and “Everlong.”

More than 1,000 guests clustered in front of a concert stage in soap opera producer Brady Bell’s backyard. Actors Jack Black and Rashida Jones — both self-proclaimed Obama backers — also attended and spoke to attendees.

Obama used the fundraiser to talk to Hollywood and explain to them the challenges of the 2012 election. “The main message I’ve got for you tonight is it’s not going to be easier this time, it’s going to be harder this time,” Obama told supporters of the escalating campaign. “I’m going to need you. You’re going to carry this thing like you did in 2008.

“If you are ready for one more round, if you’re ready for one more fight … if you’re still saying there’s change out there we can believe in,” he said, “I promise you there is nothing that can stop the United States of America.”
