Limp Bizkit Sign to Same Label as Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj

Fred Durst and company sign to high-profile hip-hop label

Limp Bizkit are no longer without a home. Fred Durst and his rap-rock clique have signed a new record deal with Cash Money Records, the hip-hop label started back in 1991 by the brothers Bryan “Baby” Williams, a.k.a. Birdman, and Ronald “Slim” Williams.

That’s the same label that also recently inked Busta Rhymes and Christina Million. Cash Money Records also boasts a roster of Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Bow Wow, Drake and Birdman. So, you get the picture: Limp Bizkit is going as hip-hop as ever.

Durst confirmed the Cash Money signing Friday morning (Feb. 24) in a run of excited Tweets. “The game is missing danger, electricity, and rock n roll!!!! Cash Money Limp Bizkit,” he Tweeted. Later, he Tweeted that rock music “doesn’t rock anymore! They say the whole game done went pop so I’m back in this ho! #CMLB.”

Limp Bizkit’s last album, “Gold Cobra,” was the group’s first disc to feature the original lineup of Durst on vocals, guitarist Wes Borland, bass player Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto and DJ Lethal since 2000’s “Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavored Water.” Of course, Limp Bizkit are best known for rap-rock chart-toppers such as “Re-Arranged,” “Break Stuff” and “Nookie” off their 1999 release, “Significant Other.” Does this signing mean a follow-up to last year’s “Gold Cobra” is already on the horizon? Probably, so get ready for it.

In other Limp Bizkit news, Borland recently announced a forthcoming album with his industrial-metal side project, Black Light Burns. The disc, called “The Moment You Realize You’re Going to Fall,” is scheduled to hit stores this summer.
