Fred Durst Talks Lil Wayne, Limp Bizkit Collaboration
Fred Durst on Lil Wayne track: ‘I want to get it out there soon, as soon as we can’
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has been caught in a media whirlwind ever since he announced he was signing to high-profile hip-hop label Cash Money Records, the home of Lil Wayne and so many more popular rap acts. “Ready to Go” is the first product of the band’s shiny new deal with Cash Money, and the track features none other than Lil Wayne rapping alongside the Durst.
Durst says he’s on target to get the Limp Bizkit, Lil Wayne song out fast. “I want to get it out there soon, as soon as we can,” Durst told Billboard. “The song is already done for the most part. I’ve got a couple little things I might poke around or punch in on my verse. And I want their guys to take a crack at the mix. I mixed it myself; I think it sounds very big, but I really love the way their guys are mixing stuff, so I want to see what they can do with it.”
The track features Durst and Wayne swapping verses, and the result, Durst says, is wicked. “It sounds like a monster; it literally sounds dangerous,” he said. “It sounds like that left of center, that place of discomfort that created rock ‘n’ roll, created the (heavy) metal, where it all spawned from.” Durst added that he has also planned a concept for the track’s video that will be shot and released as soon as possible.
Curious about the song? As it turns out, you may be able to download it for free. Durst explained the release strategy for “Ready to Go” will probably be free Internet distribution. “We want to let everybody know this is just an introduction, just a taste of what throwing these two dudes together for five minutes can do,” he said. “Now that we’re living together, now that we’re married, we’ll see what happens when we start doing more. I’m very excited.”
