Linkin Park will play MTV’s World Stage series this September

For years, playing MTV’s World Stage series has been something of a benchmark for successful rock bands. Gorillaz, Coldplay, Green Day, MGMT, Smashing Pumpkins, 30 Seconds to Mars and Muse are just a few of the bands who have participated in the series over the years. Now, it’s Linkin Park’s turn.

Linkin Park have been tapped to play the MTV World Stage series, which features exclusive live shows performed in unique spots around the world. Lead singer Chester Bennington and the boys will play the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico for the series on Sept. 12, and the concert air on MTV Latin America on Oct. 8. Those outside of Latin America will have a chance to see the show, too, as the concert will be broadcast on over than 63 MTV channels around the globe. Exact air times will be announced in the coming weeks.

“It’s been so long since the last time we performed in Mexico,” multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda said in an official statement. “We cannot wait to celebrate the launch of our new album with our fabulous Mexican fans.”

Linkin Park’s latest full-length, “Living Things,” arrives on June 26. In support of the disc, the band will head out on the Honda Civic Tour later this summer, co-headlining the bill with Incubus. The trek kicks off Aug. 11 in Bristow, Va., and wraps Sept. 10 in San Diego, Calif.
