Pearl Jam bass player helps Montana Democratic Senator Jon Tester raise campaign funds

Pearl Jam have always been something of a politically-minded band, and now, bass player Jeff Ament is using his status to help Montana Democratic Senator Jon Tester. The bass slinger is offering up a free pair of special VIP tickets to a Pearl Jam concert plus an invitation to have dinner with him to those who donate to Tester’s campaign.

The senator is managing a contest where fans can score a chance to watch Pearl Jam’s Sept. 30 concert at the Adams Center in Missoula, Mont., in a special pair of recliner seats right on the stage and also grab some grub with both Ament and Tester. The lucky winner also picks up round-trip travel and hotel accommodations. To enter the contest, participants need to contribute some funds to Tester’s campaign via his official website.

Ament also issued a statement regarding the political partnership on Pearl Jam’s official website. “Jon is a hardworking Montana farmer who has never forgotten who he works for or where he comes from, and he brings the responsible leadership America needs to the U.S. Senate,” he said. “Pearl Jam looks forward to joining folks from across Montana in support of Jon to build momentum and re-elect him in November.”

In other Pearl Jam news, country singer Carrie Underwood recently dropped the news that she’s a big fan of ‘90s grunge, including the music of Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Nirvana. Underwood even admitted to keeping a reserve of lovely plaid shirts in her closet from her grunge days.
