Eddie Vedder and Tom Morello Jam with Bruce Springsteen in Chicago
Bruce Springsteen teams with Pearl Jam frontman and Rage Against the Machine guitarist at recent gig
Bruce Springsteen had a few special guests at his concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago on Friday (Sept. 7). Springsteen brought Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello onto the stage during a special performance, much to the surprise of the jam-packed audience.
Vedder jammed with The Boss during a performance of Springsteen’s chart-topping 1982 track “Atlantic City.” Then, Springsteen strutted onstage with Morello to play two songs: Springteen’s “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and a cover rendition of “Twist and Shout.” Call it a star-studded night of performances that united the generations with a love for music that transcends the decades and genres.
This isn’t the first time Springsteen has performed with Vedder and Morello. Morello and Springsteen have played alongside each other a handful of times over the past few years, and Morello plays on two tracks that appear on Springsteen’s current album, “Wrecking Ball.” Likewise, Vedder performed at Springsteen’s shows in Chicago in 2002, two gigs in Washington, D.C. and New Jersey in 2004 and at the Kennedy Center Honors Springsteen event in 2009, so he’s no newbie to The Boss either.
