“Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World” has the goal to call on “world leaders to step up to make sure vaccines are accessible for all so we can end the pandemic for everyone, everywhere”

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and Foo Fighters are among the many acts that have been tapped to perform at “Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World,” a special music program put together by Global Citizen. Jennifer Lopez, H.E.R. and J Balvin are also slated to perform. Selena Gomez will host the event.

The program will feature a selection of pre-recorded performances from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The goal, according to organizers, is to call on “world leaders to step up to make sure vaccines are accessible for all so we can end the pandemic for everyone, everywhere.”

“During the special, Global Citizen, will call on philanthropists and corporations to donate enough ‘dollars-for-doses’ to vaccinate more than 27 million heroic health workers, that are serving on the global frontlines, in the world’s poorest countries everyday,” a press release states regarding the event.

The release adds, “The special will also encourage global development advocates and changemakers to call on world leaders to prioritize the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines for everyone, everywhere.”

“Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World” will air May 8 on major networks, such as ABC, CBS and Fox. The event will also be available to stream online on the Global Citizen YouTube channel.
