Jack White to Reissue Over 25,000 Vintage Blues Recordings on Vinyl

Jack White is joining forces with Document Records to reissue over 25,000 blues recordings on vinyl

It’s no secret that Jack White is a fan of vinyl, and now, the former White Stripes singer and guitarist has announce more details about his current vinyl reissue series, titled “Complete Recorded Works in Chronological Order.” White says that he’s set to reissue the full catalog of rare and vintage blues recordings that are currently in the hands of Scottish independent Blues label, Document Records.

“There’s over 25,000 recordings [to release],” he told BBC 6 Music. “[I will be] releasing the full recorded works [in] chronological order. It’s not a project for the faint-hearted.”

White added that this release has nothing to do with trying to make money. Instead, releasing the recordings via his record label, Third Man Records, is something he’s doing from the heart. “We just want to create things that we want to see exist and if it breaks even, we’re lucky– if not, it doesn’t really matter,” he said. “[These recordings are] very important to American history and also to the history of the world.”

Vinyl fans can already lap up the first installment of White’s reissue series, as the debut chapter arrived on Jan. 29 and offered cuts from Blind Willie McTell, Charley Patton and the Mississippi Sheiks.
