Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, Rise Against the Play Metallica’s Orion Music + More Festival
Metallica’s 2013 Orion Music + More festival will feature performances from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, Rise Against and more
The wait is over, and Metallica have announced the full lineup for their 2013 Orion Music + More festival, which will be held from June 8-9 on Detroit’s Belle Isle. The lineup brings together a mix of alternative bands and heavier players, following in the tradition of its inaugural year, which was last year.
This year’s headliners include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and, of course, Metallica. Other acts slated to perform include Bassnectar, the Joy Formidable, Death Grips, the Dirtbombs, Death, Battlecross, Foals and Tomahawk, to name a few.
“Last year’s Orion Music + More Festival was hands down the highlight of the Metallica calendar. A great time was had by all, especially the band members,” drummer Lars Ulrich said in an official statement. “The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in ’13 is beyond exciting. I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train..”
Orion Music + More will offer over 30 bands performing on five live music stages, as well as additional entertainment, including James Hetfield’s Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Kirk Hammett’s Crypt, Lars Ulrich’s Hit the Lights Film Tent and Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp.
Pre-sale for Metallica Met Club members kicks off on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. EST and runs through Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. EST. E-list members will be able to purchase $150 two-day passes before they go on sale to the public starting on Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. EST and running through Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. EST. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on March 1 at 10 a.m. EST, and they’ll run $150 for a two-day pass, plus frees. For more on the upcoming show, head to the Orion Music + More website.
